The Bates Behind the Bakes
By day, Anna Bates is a third-year Economics undergraduate at Newnham College, Cambridge. By night (and indeed in any other moment of spare time she has), Anna is a baker extraordinaire. Inspired almost a decade ago by popular US baking show Cake Boss, Anna began making birthday cakes for friends and family. Fast forward to 2019 and Bates' Bakes are in popular demand. In 2018, she was approached to design and bake the cake for the prestigious Trinity May Ball. The fabulous outcome is pictured here. This year, she has been asked back, and is hoping to challenge her artistry even further with her 2019 design.
Having her cake and eating it too!
Anna's passion for baking intersects directly with her interest in events organisation and management. In 2018, Anna curated a three-tier cake for her own Twenty-First birthday party. This took place in Newnham college and did not disappoint. Not only was the cake delicious, but the event was immaculately arranged, with balloons, fairy lights and a mini-pop up bar. After the success of her own party, Anna is now offering her services as a boutique events manager, cake included!
Keeping it personal
Anna understands the importance of maintaining authenticity in all that she does. For this reason, as well as offering standard designs and packages, Anna also accepts custom requests. Anna works closely with all of her clients to ensure that visions and ideas for cake are successfully transformed into edible reality. Whatever the celebration, Bates' Bakes will have you covered!
